Description

The technical object of the project was the construction of a building with a total area of 2,500 square metres, which consists of basement, ground and first floor and the construction of its immediate surrounding area. The architectural morphology of the building is that of the island buildings. It consists of three blocks, which are connected through the central entrance core, the staircase and the service entrance. The three blocks have the same structure concerning the construction materials, the openings and the housing. Their character is specified by the compact plastered walls, the relatively small openings and the four-flapped ceilings with Byzantine tiles. Concerning the internal spaces of the building, they have been formed on the one hand for the office needs of the Museum and on the other hand for the presentation of archaeological exhibits in its specifically formed large rooms.
